Kensington Market

Kensington Market is considered one of Toronto’s most unique multicultural neighbourhoods. Located in Toronto’s downtown Chinatown, it is one of the city’s oldest and most well known neighbourhoods. Kensington Market is bounded by Spadina Avenue on the east, Dundas Street West on the south, Bathurst Street on the west and College Street on the north. The Market is well known for its popular outdoor market, street festivals like Pedestrian Sundays in the summer and the annual Festival of Lights in December.

The Market preserves its charm and diversity through its eclectic mix of vintage clothing stores, fresh produce, cafes, Latin grocers and restaurants. Colourful small to moderate sized Victorian row houses that were built in the 1870s and 1890s line the streets of Kensington Market.

The neighbourhood is currently being revitalized by a few new housing projects, including Victorian inspired townhouses located on Oxford Street. Also, the Kensington Market Lofts is an upcoming unique condominium project that is located on Baldwin and Nassau Streets in three of George Brown College’s former buildings.
